Wanted - A Pillar Covers for 1971 "S" Posted Car

Good Evening,

Looking for some A Pillar covers for a 1971 Cutlass S POSTED car. I've bought two pairs that are supposed to fit but they never do and slightly too long. Would appreciate a set from the same car as I have. Color is of no concern to me.

Thank you

Fletcher

For anyone considering selling him a set....these are post coupe specific. He didn't mistakenly get parts from a big car....probably got some (the longer ones) from a non-post A-BODY car.

With that said, I don't know if Cutlass wagon A pillar covers would work or not. I will try to check at a local old car salvage place and report back.

Here are a couple pics so folks will know how to ID the correct A-pillar metal moldings for you.

Patton, thank you for sharing the information about these being different. I hadn't looked twice at them, but just at a glance thought they were the same.

Fletcher, here's pictures of the ones from my parts car. I can measure them to make sure they're correct if your interested. These have rust on them but I'm not feeling pits in the metal, I think a coat of primer to smooth any flaws then layer of paint on top of that would make these usable pieces. Also, are you still looking for the side trim that goes over the edge of the headliner? I've got those too if you need them. John

Fletcher, here's the other trim pieces I was describing. I believe these are called Windless and they clip over the metal and edge of the headliner. Patton, if I understood you were sharing the side pieces were Post specific. Is the piece across the top front of the windshield also post only or does that piece interchange between the two?

I believe the windlace pieces are the same for post and non-post cars. I don't have a post car nearby right now for reference but I'm about 100% sure on this.

There is a similar Difference between the Chevelle, and the El Camino (70-72). In terms of length. If the Chev ones are the same (70-72) have a whole crate of them. Clean southern NM metal. Dave S Dona Ana NM

Fletcher, here's a couple photos of one on a post car. It doesn't have the windlass above the door installed, but it shows approximately how the pillar molding would sit. John

Thanks for Inquiring Don - Im good now - John came through with a set that fit perfectly and was able to clean them up, repaint and install with no issues. Thank you to all who added input and chimed in along the way. A huge pet peeve I had every time I drove the car has been remediated!
