W-27 wanted
For a friend I am looking for a W-27. Does not want a perfect restored one with a high price. Just a used unrestored one. Even one that has issues or a crack is ok as long as it is priced accordingly and is possible to be fixed. Don't even need guts if the price is right because he has a 3.42 that he can use the guts out of.
I know this is a shot in the dark but I told him I would at least try.

But most all of them ever offered for sale end up selling fairly quick. In 2013 I offered a guy $15K for an NOS one with no axles or brakes and was turned down without hesitation.

Back in 2000, I was on a business trip to Silicon Valley.
Always left some time to go salvage yard shopping.
Found a complete W27 at GM Sports Salvage in San Jose.
They wanted $3,000 for it back then.......should have bought it.......

Yep, Lots of that happened. I could buy them fairly often back then for $2500 but was a kid in high school. That was crazy money for me at the time. The NOS one went for around $6K back then that I offered 15K for. I could be wrong but I see the W-27 being topped out in price for many years to come. I believe many of the crazy rare pieces will be going down in price over the next 10 years.

Bought one in 1988 for $1,000, passed on one in 2008 for $7,000 thinking that was too much money. Currently, if listed at $10,000 - $12,000 they will sell in a few days. My opinion is they are worth between 12 and 15k today depending on condition, and that may be low. So few come up for sale in any given year, there will always be someone to step up and pay big $$$ for one.

Here in Brazil Indiana. It would be going in a non original "local level" show car. He is good at fabricating and fixing things so if he can find one for a lower price that needs some work it would be more like he wants. Just needs to be priced correct or he could just buy a good one.
