Hey y'all, does anybody have a thermostat housing for a 1964 394? I have had no luck trying to find one, even on ebay. Maybe there is an alternative solution?

Well, as luck would have it I was able to go right to the item I was thinking of! I believe this is a 1964 394 intake manifold. I'd be willing to pull the thermosat housing if you want it. I've also got the housing on a 1961 intake that goes straight forward rather than toward the side like this one does. Are these thremostat housing a known 394 issue? Mine keeps growing green fuzz. Seems like the casting is porous, and the coolant is coming THROUGH it.
If so, no wonder they are hard to find.

 

I think it could be a reason. I don't think replacement thermostats are made. I was thinking I might take advantage of a 3d printer and make an aluminum cast of the housing.

 

Adam, is your a 4 barrel or 2. The housings are different. FYI

 

Mine is a 4 barrel.
