407567 455 Intake

Hi, I had posted previously looking for a 404521 “L” iron 455 intake, but further research says that the 407567 is correct for a '71 455 A or B body with T400. 442.com says the 407567 is for stick only '70 thru '72 and 404521 is auto '70 thru '72, but my '72 parts book shows the 404521 for 70, 407567 for '71 and 231399 (never heard of this one) on the '72s. Looking for one with a date code between 125 to 155. Thanks!

Got it, but my '72 parts book shows the 404521 for 70, 407567 for '71. I'm not confident 442.com is 100% accurate.

I thought the $ 4 speed intake had a "nipple" for PcV drilled / installed to the front of carb. Same cast Iron manifold. Just no nips for automatic cars

When I get a chance I will look under hood of 1971 and see what casting #'s I can find

Happy motoring

Don't confuse casting numbers with part numbers. For example, 404521 is the casting number for the 1970 intake and is also the part number for the 1970 AT intake. The 1970 MT intake is the same casting number but has the PCV nipple, so the PART NUMBER is 404848.

I'm not confident 442.com is 100% accurate.
Imagine that...

According to the 1971 Engine Assembly Manual, the intake casting number is 407567, which is also the P/N for the AT version. The MT version uses that same casting number but has the nipple so P/N is 407568.

Thanks Joe, I appreciate the info! Yes, I am aware of the part # vs. casting #. I had seen a picture here on CO of a '71 intake with the 407567 casting #. But as I mentioned I was led to believe the 404521 was the correct # for my 71 VC (455 4bbl). So I'm going to conclude that I need the 407567.

On a side note, is the Engine Assembly manual available as a reprint? I see it's referenced in section 6 of the Car Assembly manual, but have never seen one.
