Hi Chuck! How are you? Love your ******. How is your fiberglass one going? You can share pictures, no one here will mind!! Offenhauser 5706 dual 4-barrel. But not really tall. Is the only one I know for your DX. I think you have one over your blower now? Beautifully car and engine by the way! John

Offy made both short and high rise dual quad intakes for both BBO and SBO in both square bore and Qjet patterns. Frankly none of them would be the first choice for performance. No, this one isn't mine.

Joe, does it matter if he uses a blow through Supercharger?

Actually, the one thing these Offy intakes are good for is to be made into blower manifolds for Roots blowers. I'm not sure why you'd want a high rise version for a blow-through system - seems like a waste. In any case, the open plenum Offy probably won't hurt a blown application. The Roots versions usually have a plate welded to them.

As I said, the only reason to use one of those intakes.

And that's what I have planned......I have the plate assembly for the blower, looking for the perverbial "good deal" for the manifold. And, the hi rise comment would be to allow for as much of the material from the plenum of the manifold to be available for fit up of the blower mount........

Got it. I was thrown by the use of the term "blow through" earlier. I was picturing a Paxton-style blower pressurizing the dual quads. Now I get it.

Joe P. I visualized exactly the same as you. Occasionally the old "Potvin" set up pops into my head.

I think John may have misused the term "blow thru." Typically in current day term/usage I think "blow thru" refers to the pressurization on the intake or air inlet side of the carb. In my case, I'm gathering parts (and the intake requested) will be modified to accept a Rootes type 6-71 blower. And the fuel system (carbs) are on top of the blower. And yes, the Potvin systems of days gone by accomplished the same thing, though the pressurized fuel/air mixture was directed thru a pair of large diameter tubes from the output side of the blower to the inlet side of the manifold.

As seen in the picture, I'm currently running the old school look of the 6-71 on a modified intake. Gathering the parts to make another one.......hopefully way cheaper than the $1300-$2000 price from the current aftermarket producers.

Terminology is kinda important. Honest mistakes are made, but misusing terms confuses people.

6-71, now thats a "Blower" (Huffer, super charger, etc.). As a young teen, there was two types of "blown" engines. One was "Blown/destroyed" and the other was "Blown with a 6-71". I have a dual Quad Offy for a 400, 425, 455 and Joe P says they are not his first choice. I suppose I could look for a 6-71 and another project. I was thinking it would work great for a simple "Street Rod".

Not a engine builder. I stand corrected. Not the first time. Probably not the last time. But will keep an eye out for Offenhauser intake manifold for your DX.

Blow through is when the carb is pressurized by the supercharger.
