I can get them for you tuesday. It's actually on the car, but I have a chrome one I bought to put on. So this would be a reason to swap it.

um... none of the 10 bolt diff covers from any of my 71-72's look like that one.

I was thinking he meant the "wrinkling" or rust underneath the paint on the left side.

I understand that. I just don't have any of the ones with that 12 bolt looking ridge stamped in it. All of mine are 100% smooth... and I have not seen one like the one pictured. I have to wonder if that is a 12 bolt cover not a 10 bolt.

Yeah, it is a 12-bolt cover. Don't let the 10 holes in the pic confuse you or anything.

yer right, the ten holes didn't confuse me or anything. I would have asked for a 12 bolt rear end differential cover.

I've got some nice 10 bolt covers from the corporate 8.5 inch 10 bolts. But mine all have the letter "C" notches in the 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock positions. I'm not familiar with the raised swoop on the top of the cover. I've seen pictures of these but not come across one before so I don't know if the other covers will interchange or not. Have you checked with monzaz or 507OLDS yet? I know both of these guys build rear ends to sell so they may have spare parts available. John

There are 2 different casting of 8.5" 10-bolt rears, for 71-72,thus there are 2 different covers for them.
There is the O-casting,not to be confused with the O-axle.This casting has a large 'O' cast on each side of the pumpkin, where the axle tubes go into the pumpkin, between the parallel ribs. This casting came with the round cover that is pictured, with the protruding rib going from 12:00 to 3:00.
The other casting is the A-casting.This type has a large 'A' cast into the top of the pumpkin,as well as smaller A's between the parallel ribs on the pumpkin. This casting came with a cover that looks just like a BOP 8.2" 10-bolt cover, but the bolt spacing is different. This cover is smooth, with a notch at 9:00 and 3:00.
You can put the round cover on an A-casting,but you can NOT put the notched cover on the O-casting,as it will expose oiling holes.
The O-casting rears were found under all 71-72 Cutlass/442's built in Lansing.
All of the other 71-72 Cutlass/442's mostly came with the A-casting,but could have the O-casting.
All of the 71-72 Buick Skylark/GS came with the A-casting.

If you don't find a cover like the one pictured,I'll consider selling one.

He likes his stuff USA-made,so that rules out a lot of the new ones.

The one I spoke of is not available.I just recieved payment for the whole rear, and that cover has to stay on it.They want it all perfect.
If I come accross another one that I don't need,I'll let you know. You could also put a W27 cover on it.
