WTB this 76 442 in Austin

Hello CO family, I need some assistance, if possible.

I ran across an ad on craigslist for a fairly complete non running 1976 442 (based on the ad description) that's headed to the crusher/scrap yard if it's not sold.

Parts for 76-77 are hard to locate and I'd like to save this vehicle from destruction if I can! I tried emailing the person that posted the ad a few days after the ad was posted (now a month of sending emails) but have not had any luck with the craigslist email link provided and the technical folks at craigslist are non-responsive as well.

So, I thought about calling the scrap yards in Austin to see if any of them have acquired this car and possibly save it. This could take weeks but if that's what it takes then so be it.

Austin members, look around for me, please.

If anyone has any information, ideas, thoughts, and/or knows the owner of this car let me know snappy quick.

I know this is a long shot and it may be too late but I feel compelled to save an Olds.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Just a thought, but that usually means somebody jumped on it already. I saw a 69 442 go up on CL and called as soon as I saw it, less than 30 minutes after the post, and it was already sold. I think people talk about scrapping to get people excited quickly. Good luck on the hunt.

Yes, true indeed.

Guess it's the thought of " I can save it" that's pushing me.

If it's still out there it would stink for it to be scrapped.

Glad to see you've saved one and have it registered in the 73-77 data base.

Hey Ken,

Nice 442!!

Saw the ad on craigslist and wanted to save another.

Can't save them all I suppose, the wife would have heart failure.

Hey man. My wife's just about there. She is not a car person. At least we're still alive...so far.

I hear ya.

I think it would be a "pile of cars with no space to store anything" that would drive her bonkers.

Then again, If I save a few and complete a nice looking "get up n go" 442 for her I'm certain she wouldn't mind one bit.
