WTB '64 Jetstar 88 Parts
WTB '64 Jetstar 88 Parts
Hi everyone,
I am new to "this" forum so I'm sure the first response will be to use the search bar, but hoping I can get some feedback from some helpful members.
I am considering my first purchase of a classic car and am currently considering a '64 Olds Jetstar 88 convertible. With other cars I have looked at, I have searched online to ensure that I was able to find replacement parts easily. For this car, I am not really able to find anything. When I search for B-body Oldsmobile, Google returns Mopar sites or sites that say olds 88 parts, but its all generic stuff. It gives me concerns to buy this car if I can't find parts so the question is: where do you guys go to buy parts for these cars?
The car is a convertible and so first and foremost I would want to buy a convertible boot cover for it. I am going to look at it tomorrow, but not sure if it has rear seat belts, so I would want to add that, and then would also look to upgrade the cooling system and move to disc brakes.
Are these parts readily available on the market for this car? Is there anything you can tell me about this car that I should consider before buying or areas of the car I need to look at when doing the inspection?
Thanks for you help!

The Olds full size cars are not popular to restore. There is little available for them in the way of aftermarket parts. In most cases, Impala parts do not fit, however the convertible top boot may be one exception. Try Hubbard's Impala Parts. Generic seat belts are available from many sources. Your car should have hard points already in the floor pan under the rear seat cushion. While the J88 is mostly common with other Olds B-body cars (Dynamic, Super, etc), there are several one-year-only items that are unique to the 1964 J88. These include the rear axle, the front spindles and brakes, the engine and mounts, the accessory brackets, and the Jetaway trans (which is a long tail, unlike those in the A-body cars). Good luck.
