WTB- 215 4-speed Bellhousing, flywheel and clutch parts, Minnesota

I looking to switch my set-up from auto to manual. I'm looking for a stock 4-speed belhousing (could maybe settle for the 3 speed) and the parts to make it work.

Any help is appreciated.

I have seen 3-speed only bellhousings. Maybe that was from the 98 though?

I know the other had 3 and 4 speed patterns on them.

I'm an idiot...For a Oldsmobile 215. I think 63 was the only year for the manual.

I'd rather not buy the D&D adaptor. I like stock.

Wecome to classicO!

These parts are Not Mine

This setup has been advertised on local craigslist for the last year or so. I do not know if he would sell any of the parts separately or if they would be a bolt on item for a 215 engine either

Clutch pedals and linkage with bell housing and 3 speed trans with shifter for a buick 350
will work on any A body car

There is also an ad for a 4 gear trans and 215 flywheel

http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ws...963542663.html

I have a 1970 M21 4 speed out of a Olds 442 cutlass. is in good working order, came out of a daily driver 15 years ago. I was going to use it in one of my street rod projects, but I have changed my direction on projects this year. Pilot stub on Main input shaft has been shortened 1/2 inch to allow for use on non-drilled olds crank, and one ear was repaired many years before I ever owned this tranny. Spins free, and includes shifter and linkages. Should be disassembled and cleaned before use, or flushed out at least. It has sat for many years in a dirty shop with no tail shaft plug in it, I guarantee that some dirt got in it, and it would be a shame to destroy a nice tranny to save $20 in gaskets and a few quarts of oil..... Am looking to get $750 cash for it..... I will post pictures if I get a chance.

Manual flywheel for 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963 Oldsmobile, Buick and Pontiac 215 aluminum V8.... Is really clean and serviceable. Starter ring looks good. In my opinion is ready to use, but you may want to have it surfaced if you are a perfectionist.... I bought it on E-Bay last year, for a street rod project, but have changed the direction my projects are going. I paid $250 + $50 shipping for it, and got a deal compared to what I have seen some of them go for. This is a very rare and hard to find flywheel, I just want it to go to someone who can put it to use, rather than have it rust in my garage. Looking to recover my investment $300 cash takes it.

I also have many other ads going, including listings for 6) 62 cutlass F85s. put keyword " Galen " in the search window and see what else I have.
I have been collecting Olds parts for 25 years, It's time to let someone else enjoy my collection....

I have seen both those ads. The flywheel for $350 is a little high IMO.

Thanks

Was the bellhousing bolt pattern different for the Ford top-loader 3 speed used in the 64- 69 A-body cars?

Yes, the "Dearborn" tranny mounting pattern was totally different; I have several of the bells from that time period and they all have the dual bolt pattern.

The '61 to '63 Buick/Olds 215 is a complete difference than the '64 and up engines.
On E-bay there is a 215 bell housing 3 speed, that has been modified to fit the GM 4 speed pattern.

Saw it and have bids. I picked up a 3 speed bellhousing, flywheel, clutch arm and cover locally for $300. Now I need to find a trans...

If you find the 4 speed bell housing, you can use any GM 4 speed, be it a Borg-Warner T-10 , Saginaw, or a Muncie, also a late model GM 5 speed. T-5 or a Tremic 5 sp. As long they have the GM bolt pattern. The T-10 is what came in the 61/63 F-85's.
You will have to modify you drive shaft, if you don't find a T-10 from a 61/63 Buick or Olds. You just need to get the slip yoke for the trans and have it mounted on your drive shaft.

Thanks! I found a 3-speed bellhousing, flywheel and clutch parts locally for a fair price.

I was readin a bit and found that the 94+ S-10 T-5 is just like the V8 Camaro. The other S-10 T-5's have less teeth on the input and it's a bit longer.

I'd be happier with a T-10 4 speed, but I can't seem to find any of those.

I have the factory F-85 auto 2-piece driveshaft. Buy it's gotta get cut up. It's only going to be about 12" long...

Just a shot in the dark but have you looked into using Land Rover parts?I know that 215 engine was sold to them and was used till recently. I have no idea if transmissions are compatible or not though.....Tedd

I am aware of the rover parts. That's more of a Buick thing though.

A long shot here but the 215 was used in the SDI Rover 3500 with a 5 speed manual box in the UK from 1975-85.
I don't know if it was ever sold in North America though.
