WTB 1969 W-31 Engine instead of rebuilding mine?

Just testing the waters and checking if buying a rebuilt engine instead of rebuilding one of mine is a better route.

Casual information gathering here.

I am not looking for an untested, never been on a dyno, parts of undetermined origin type engine but if someone is looking to sell a ready (documented receipts) 350 of W-31 type (not numbers) this could work for both of us?

Could you explain what that means, please? Also, where are you located? Thanks, Bob.

Yes, please clarify
It sounds like you are looking for a well documented build to perhaps more than stock compression and cam specs, with no need for the expensive factory wide balancer, AL intake like the 1970 used, etc.

The only thing I have close to that is a 403 whose only dyno time is in the car's butt dyno. Forged 330 crank, forged pistons, stock intake. Used for maybe a year off and on. Been sitting a while now, I start it once in a while to be sure it's OK. Probably not what you have in mind from what I am hearing.

I am in Ontario Canada:-) (chilly today)

What I am considering is: is there someone who has an extra W-31 complete engine that they would like to see installed in a cool W-31 Cutlass instead of sitting in storage. A 68/69 SBO 350 rebuilt to W-31 specs or slightly less (compression and cam) for street use and or PSMCDR. Must have crank bored for 4 speed pilot bushing. If it is built to W-31 specs or a little above I would like to get the details and consider it.

Cast 68/69 manifold and #5 heads not 1970 stuff.

Not trying to lead people on here, for this to work I would spend the money I have aside for my engine build and simply buy, paint and install this engine. Not looking to make anybody rich:-)

To explain, sometimes I see people have invested lots of time, money, effort, sweat and tears in an engine and then the project gets halted and they sell off the engine to go to a better home, if this situation arises I would be into giving your pound puppy a new home:-)

I have talked to Bill in detail about a rebuild, he would be a great resource!!!

Still interested to see if someone has a ready to go engine...
