Wtb: 1969 OLDSMOBILE 98 power steering gear box
Wtb: 1969 OLDSMOBILE 98 power steering gear box. The 98 uses the variable ratio. The 88s used standard ratio. There is a 2 letter code that identifies this gear box as 1969 and variable ratio. I do not remember the code but I believe is in the chassis manual that is not available at the present.
The 1970 98 is one letter greater if memory serves me.
Maybe some can post these codes?
Thanks. Ron

Saginaw 800
You might look up Hector Carrillo, aka “carhex”. Inland Empire. He does Saginaw steering box rebuilds and upgrades, at a reasonable price. I have a few #6 castings, but they are from A bodies and am saving them for now.

Thanks for the response.
I am only interested in these two years as they are both variable ratio. 88 and smaller series are unlikely to be v.r. The rebuild is not complex and I would do that myself.
Thank you. Ron
