Smile Wanted Right side door mirror '69 Delta 88

Need a right side chrome door mirror for 1969 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I think the Delta 88 and the "98" door mirrors are the same.

Do you have a photo of the mirror you are looking for?

Are you looking for a factory mirror? I don't think there was one. The dealer specs book for 1969 Oldsmobile does not show a passenger side mirror as an option on any of the full-size cars, not even the 98. Not that it's definitive, but none of the photos of the full-size cars in any of the 1969 Oldsmobile brochures shows a car with a passenger-side mirror. Ditto for the Toronado. I'm sure there were plenty of aftermarket passenger-side mirrors to be had back then, but I don't see anything from the factory.

We take the presence of a passsenger-side mirror for granted nowadays and have for many years, but they were definitely not standard and often not even an option back in those days.

Sorry, I should have put a picture on there. This isn't my car but it is the mirror that I need for the passenger door.

Thanks.

The passenger side is a non-remote, with the same oval shape but without the housing length front to rear of the driver side. I think the 70-72 Cutlass reproduction passenger side is what you need. Please verify. I had a 72 Cutlass and the driver side remote mirror was identicle to my 68 Delta 88. BTW, I have extra '69 98 4-door handles and mechanism parts, and an AC controller. That's a beautiful '69 88 you have. I want another 88 or 98.

I have the OEM Oldsmobile mirror (NOS) in the box for passenger side like the reproduction in the above link, but would be competitive with the OPGI price.

Thank you. I've bought that same mirror from them before. It is different than the mirror on the driver's door which forms more of an oval hood which extends over the actual mirror.
Thanks so much!

That oval hood mirror would be for the remote mechanism I would think. But still, one could wonder why they did not make a non-remote with an exact match for the passenger side as an accessory for the remote driver equipped car. Photo of mirror on right is for '71 up?

Thanks for the pics. So close...Finding the right side mirror has been an almost 40 year quest since I got the car in '86.

You are remembering, of course, that there was no right side mirror available for this car from the factory. Maybe, after 40 years, the universe is trying to tell you something. Any right-side mirror would be something generic aftermarket.

In fact, according to the 1969 Olds Dealer Specs book, a right-side mirror was not available as a factory option on ANY 1969 Oldsmobile. Not on the 98, Toronado, Delta 88, any version of the Cutlass, 442, or the Vista Cruiser. In all of these cars, a manually-operated (roll the window down and adjust it by hand) driver's side mirror was standard equipment, and the only option was to get this mirror remote-control. That option was the same price, $10.53, on every Oldsmobile.

No, I didn't know that. I thought the mirror was available as an option. Long ago I saw a right-side mirror in a junk yard in New Mexico on a '98. It was the real thing. I should've grabbed it then but I was preoccupied with getting something else for the car. Thanks!

That car may have had a right side mirror as many people added an aftermarket one in those days, but it wasn't a factory mirror.
