Wanted nos Delco radio control switch
I am looking for an nos Delco Radio volume control part number 7303170 and also part number 7310846 for an am fm stereo Oldsmobile radio. Another 4 “band” control might work. Let me know if you have anything. Thx, Al

Hi Al,
I did a quick search for the # and am I correct this is not a “switch” but the Volume & Tone control? Delco calls them a “control”.
Are you in need of the entire part? If so, Elliots Car Radio http://elliottscarradio.com/store/index.php lists one, but its very pricey.
If there is one section (i.e. the R or L volume or tone) that is bad, that individual section can be replaced but it is a delicate process to do. You’ll need a donor control to do this. The Delco radios of that era generally used the same elements, for AM only, AM/FM mono & stereo, but the overall shaft length and other mechanical differences necessitated different control part numbers. I’ve done several of these swaps. If you want, let me know what year and body type (A, B, C, E) and I can see what other radios would work. One of the other big mechanical differences is some controls had lugs to solder the wires directly, others had tabs to mount into a circuit board.

Karl,
Thanks for your response. I am going to pull the radio control to make sure I have the right part number. I have been in touch with Elliots and will see once I get it out what the part number is. I think I’m correct on the number I posted. The issue on this particular radio is the volume is very crackly. Al

Good recommendations on the contact cleaner. I would recommend CAIG DeoxIT FaderLube as it is specifically formulated for "plastic" parts, the elements in the Delco controls are made of conductive plastic. The hard part will be getting to the control!
