1970-72 Washer Bottle

Hi Al: There could be times where a reproduction part might be easier and work better than a NOS part. I get the idea about original parts. However, a nearly 50 year old plastic part may not last very long. Reproduction lens and washer bottles look so good (my opinion) that it could be a good way to go. OPG lists a 70-72 white repro bottle for $21.99 and you can look over the catalog at www.opgi.com to compare it to a original one. Enjoy your Olds, they are great cars. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Hi Trent,
I have a reproduction bottle now. They are fine but like most other parts nos was better constructed and looks different too. Will see what comes my way. Al

1970-72 Washer Bottle

Hi Al: Interesting. My original bottle is so tired that it is hard to get the details. Maybe you can post photos of the NOS vs. repro to document the differences on this site if you find one. Great site to share information. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles.

Al. Please show the difference in the construction, and differences of the reproductions, and NOS. Thanks.

I was told about a year ago that someone was working on an exact perfect reproduction. I know an NOS bottle was sent to China for this very reason. Not sure where that project is at. If I get a chance to call my buddy tonight I will ask him.

Once I am able to purchase an nos washer bottle I will present my original bottle, the crappy reproduction bottle and the nos one for comparison.

On Eric’s comment there has been some headway in some of the weaker reproduction parts. For example Fusick claimed they had solved the poorly fitting repro 70 headlight bezels. I phoned them and was assured these will fit as well as the originals. I took them up on it and paid $229 for a set of their 1970 repro headlight bezels. They fit absolutely perfectly. I hope we see some of this attention to detail go towards the washer bottles. Please update us Eric.

I was not able to talk to him yet. You bring up Fusick headlight bezels, they have also perfected the 70-72 dash bezel around the gauges. Their new one fits perfect. Something else that needs perfected is the 70 442 grills. The repops of these suck but NOS is over $2000 now.
I will update you as soon as I hear from him.

I will also say, when I built my W-30, I used a Fusick washer bottle and the screw tabs lined up to the original holes in the red fender well perfect.
