I've got one with a key for a 72 Chevelle that should bolt right up. Shipping could be an issue. Where are you located?

Skryla,
You might check that chevelle column. On a chevy column, when you turn the ignition key the little rod moves towards the rear of the car. This rod actually actuates the ign. switch. On an oldsmobile column it should move toward the front of the car. When you plug the harness into the ign. switch, the car will not start. Also, I've seen that little arm/bracket at the bottom of the chevy column is shaped differently than an olds & may not line up with the shift linkage.
I think pontiacs are the same as olds. & maybe buicks?
Any one else experienced this?

is that linkage a little different on the 70 as well or is it 70 - 72, a later olds version would work. I have pics somewhere comparing them. 70 is curved

Cutlass tilt wheel

I was wondering if any can tell me what this tilt steering wheel is from. I was told a buick A body but the very short shaft does not look like a A body and i am not familiar with the handle designs. Thanks for any help i need to resell this and i dont want to misrepresent it.

Thank

Those are Buick levers, & it looks like a chevelle arm on the bottom. See which way the rod moves. Even without a key, you can get it to move a little bit by wiggling it. If you turn the "key" forward towards the start position, the rod should also move forward, or towards the bottom of the column. If it moves back up toward the driver, I'm pretty sure it's a Chevy column.

When i turn the key to the start position it pulls the rod towards the driver, so if its a chevy it cant be from an A body because of how close the rag joint coupler is to the end of the steering column right?

Just a guess, but it may be from a nova/camaro? Did those cars have a rag joint that close?

Greg, just to update, the other buyer found one locally, so it's yours if you want it. I'll check on the shipping cost. Thanks, Bob.

That looks to be for an X body. It appears to be from a Buick Apollo (Nova, Omega, Ventura). It also appears to be missing some parts.

I've never had a problem using a Chevy column in an Olds. And I've never heard that about the rod going different ways. I know they do for a standard column from a tilt. I've switched many and never had this problem. First thing, always use the ignition switch that comes with the tilt. All you have to do is turn your wiring harness plug upside down and then it will plug in.

69-72 columns are the same. The only difference is the 69-70 levers and hazard button are different. Easily changed.

And I'll let you in on a little secret, 73-76 columns will work also. The only difference is the lever at the end for the trans linkage is curved different and some have the dimmer switch on them. Obviously you don't want those. 77's are wierd. Thats when they started changing things over to metric and the intermediate shaft size is different. Some have it, some don't.

Hope this helps.
