Do you mean a 400 E block engine? There was no tripower in 67. Only in 66.

Actually, there was no Tri-Power at Oldsmobile -- only Pontiac!

If you mean the term tripower then maybe. But in 66 Olds offered a 3 2 barrel carb set up on the 442 and if you are a luck one of 54 you could have purchased a 66 W-30 which had the 3 2 barrel carb set up with ram air, Or OAI. for outside air induction.

These both could be purchased over the counter at your local Olds dealer back then as well. In 67 Oldsmobile did not offer any multi-carb set ups. Prior to 66 they also offered a 3 2 barrel set up in 57 if I have the right.

And I have both setups to verify it...

I know; I was just funnin' ya. To be specific, the J-2 3X2-bbl option was available on the 371 V-8 in '57 and '58. Then no multi-carbs until the L-69 3X2-bbl option on the 4-4-2's E-block 400 in 1966. And ONLY 1966. AFAIK, that's the entire modern history of multiple carburetion at Olds and none of these was referred to as "Tri-Power" by the division.

You are correct, at least as far as production cars from Oldsmobile are concerned.

The ghost of Norm would be on your case. I remember tri-power being one of his many hot buttons.

RIP Norm

Blatant falsehoods here by those pre-disposed to a certain Cutlass oriented point of view. The first 3X2 in 1957 and 1958 was termed 'triple power pack' as evidenced in service notes and Rochester drawings. I have footnoted the drawings enough times, use the search function.

So, I was putting the tripower intake on my Solid Main Web 403 the other day and it don't fit. Like it's too wide for the 403 big block? WTH???

So is there a reason why we are belittling a relative newbie because he made an error in labeling? Tricarb, Tripower, 3x2, 3 deuces, six pack, we know what he's talking about. A correction is one thing, I think you made your points. Hell I just learned today that a 4 door and 2 door frame on a 67 is interchangeable after 40 years of playing with A bodies. Cut him some slack.

I think Misterdog got a little info and took a little good-natured ribbing. I'm sure he's a mature adult and no permanent damage was done.

My E blocks, B and C heads, and Tri-Carbs [see how easy that was to write!] are in the Vegas area--shipping to Bucks County would be tough.

One can hope

I seriously doubt that one not well versed in the Lore would even recognize my snarkasm SMW403 comments as bullsnort, but maybe they will be spurred to investigate and find out that
-SMW403 is a mythical creature and has never been photo'd
-the 403 is a small block
-Some people are picky about what exact name the three carb intake is assigned. Others, not so much... [me for one]

I actually spoke with Bill yesterday and he is a great guy who saw we are just having fun. He is diving in hard on a great 67 Cutlass factory 4 speed AC car convertible a rare car for sure. It is one that is or could have been passed over as it was pretty rusty. But he is bringing it back and has passion to do so.

We are all just having fun with our own selves not picking on him.

Sorry if that came across wrong.

All just fun.

We don't really need to get **** about terms like tripower, positraction, trac-lock and on and on. We all enjoy a fabulous hobby and should not get too off track serious about it. We should be enjoying it.

I know I sure do.

I think it will be an awesome car.

Funny side note. I had a guy call me today who bought a car from me a few years ago. He said I bought the 66 442 from you. I was thinking ok hum I have sold I think 8 or 9 of them over the years. He said the "tripower" car I bought a few years ago. Which is available again. In fact the same one the picture I posted early is from.

Timing is incredible.
