Is the car currently a 2bbl?

If so, you also need the 4bbl transmission throttle valve linkage and the thermostat housing.

Don't ask me why Olds used different t-stat housings on 2bbl and 4bbl engines. They just did. Same as 63-64 dual exhaust big cars, the left side front exhaust pipe is smaller diameter than the right side, but right side is the same for both single and dual exhaust cars.

This is what I have, Part # 574815.... Even comes with a vintage 180 degree thermostat.

 

why won't the 2 barrel housing is it just because it might hit the ac unit ?

 

No, but it will hit the fan.
There isn't much clearance there.
You will also need the four barrel top radiator hose. Available from Fusick here;
1963-64 Olds 88, 98, Starfire 4V upper radiator hose (fusickautomotiveproducts.com)
Use a molded hose, your fan is likely to " slice and dice " a flex hose.
