Cool Rim Blow Wheel

Looking for a blue rim blow steering wheel for a 1970 442. Have a sport wheel to trade if wanted.

I've seen the rim blow on full sized cars in 1970, but didn't know it was offered on the A-bodies. John

Yes they were available on the A bodies in fact I just bought a parts car that has a green one on it but it's seriously damaged.

I am not sure how to get a pic on here but the wheel looks like a standared wheel but the inboard part of the wheel is soft all the way around. If one of you guys can get me through posting a pic i'll show you the damaged one.

I've got one from a 1970 Toro, but it too is falling apart. I might be able to post a picture of it.

montvaleplace, do a search on posting a picture. One of the guys here wroteup a nice set of instructions in the past. John

They call it the "N42 Deluxe Steering Wheel-Rim Blower" in the option list
for '69 and '70. "N42 Steering Wheel with Instant Horn, Deluxe" in the 442 factory installed option list.

Instant horn?
I hate when that happens...

In all honesty, I cannot understand why anyone would want one of the troublesome things.

They can be rebuilt, lot of Ford products used them too, but it is definitely not a cheap job.

Yup- instant horn. Either it sticks and won't shut up, or it won't blow at all. Troublesome gadgety option. I guess they figured if you were in a white-knuckle situation and hanging on, the horn would blow while you're going over the cliff...
