looking for rear speaker bracket and the correct{stock} hardware to bolt it up on my 1970 442 convertible. also need the hardware for the front speaker. thanks for any help.

The rear speaker (6X9) on my '69 convertible simply bolts into the framework behind the rear seatback on the passenger side. There's no bracket to hold it in place on that framework - the framework is cut specifically to hold the 6X9 speaker. I don't think there is a difference between the '69 and '70 in that regard.

The attaching screws/nuts are another story. I've never seen that type of fastener in the modern day world. I just used screws with lock washers and nuts to hold my rear speaker in place. Maybe someone else will chime in with a source of supply!

You made me dig through my speaker box & here is what I've found.
I've seen these speakers in some old G.M. cars & maybe even a cutlass or two?
I'm pretty sure it's a factory speaker, but not sure what year it's from.
The attaching fasteners are what I've seen in other cars. They usually rest under the package tray & have no real cover.
I have a '69 GTO convertible that has the rear speaker option & it has a little grill/cover on it. I think it's like this one, but I really haven't look at it in quite a while.
I'm sure this speaker is junk but it gives you an idea of what to look for. I might be persuaded to let the speaker cover go, give me a call?

Yes, as the others have more or less said, the originals had flat grilles with integral mounting studs (same part as on the rear shelf speakers), and mounted through the top well bag, with the grilles visible if you looked down into the top well.

Far as I know, you can only get these grilles in the junkyard (and the studs love to break when you try to remove them).

The attaching nuts, if the prior poster was referring to what is shown in Scott's first picture, are commonly available. They are just nuts with an attached, free spinning external tooth lock washer....check with a local bolt supply place and they should have them.

Let me know if Scott doesn't have the front speaker mounting bracket and I may be able to source one down here as I may be pulling some dash parts from a '70 Cutlass soon.

He's looking for rear speaker stuff....such as the internal/external threaded mounting studs (with nuts) that hold the speaker into the rear seat frame [with said nuts] and then four screws thread into said mounting studs (internal threads) to hold the grille in place... The studs have external threads for the nuts and internal threads for the screws...
