Quadrajet

Looking for a decent replacement for my 72 Supreme, 350 almost stock automatic. Have a core for trade if interested, was rebuilt poorly by Holley a long time ago. Or I will pay cash for yours.
Thanks.

FWIW the specifications for the carburetor on a car driven primarily "at altitude" are different from a car driven closer to sea level. You would need to lean the jetting out for the thin air. If your carb is mechanically sound, you may want to try to find someone that is familiar with tuning them. It may be worth a try.

Thanks fo the advice, I would love to find a "guy" for my car. I forgot who, but there's someone from the forum that runs a shop in Golden, I need to look him up again.

I sold some "stocker" parts to a guy in Colorado Springs, that was building a 350 Cutlass for NHRA Stock Eliminator. He may be able to help. Where are you located in CO?

I'm a little north of Denver, about twenty five miles.
Jamesbo, I think that's the guy I was talking about. A year ago I told him I would bring the car up, never got to it for various reasons. I really need to get up there. Do you know the name of the shop?

You can still find cheap cores out there. I just bought a 7040251 on ebay for $65.60 shipped. I have a nice 7042250 on my car now but by the time I get the new carb rebuilt I'm sure you'll find one.

Got my car over to Clints shop finally, what a great guy. I'm very glad I found him, thanks to everyone that made the suggestion to me. And so, my current quadrajet is in less than stellar condition. I am now seeking an Edelbrock quadrajet that has been gently used, or at the very least re-buildable.
Thanks.

edit to say I am re-seeking a carb.

Will that fit on a 72 Supreme? Still have it?

The 7040251 turned out to be a 7043251 and the seller refunded my money. Therefore I'm keeping the 7042250 until I find another suitable core carb to rebuild

Hi Jeff, according to info I found, 7042250 is the correct carb for a '72 Olds 350. The below link is to a place that says they have one restored. You have to email them for a price.

Hope this helps you, Sal

Quadrajet

I don't have experience with them or many others. Have always done my own work on carbs and for others. I can help you if you end up with a used one that needs rebuilding.
