Looking for a power steering gear for a '64 F-85/Cutlass. FWIW, parts manual has it as 5696003, for 1964-65. RockAuto has multiple choices, but prefer an original GM.

these are the 4cboxes that I have. The main part numbers all say 5691676. I’m really not too sure how to differentiate what the years are. If anybody knows if they are for your application (or how else to confirm) then let me know and it’s yours for $25 plus shipping

For Reference.
This is the original power steering gearbox out of my 1965 cutlass.
The 5689023 is cover number. 5691676 is the body number.
The assembly manual show 5696114 as the number for the whole assembly. The 1965 chassis parts catalog (PA-93) shows 5691674
The 217 on mine is the date of manufacture. 217 is Aug 4.(since 1964 was a leap year) This was probably 1964 since my car was built in Oct of 64 The rest of the numbers not sure of.

 

"217" is what is known as a "Julian" date, meaning the numerical day of the year.

 

How can the correct year be determined?

 

I'll check my inventory. Am of belief everything I have is #676 main body, not the #003 the OP is in search of.
