Olds 350/ 455

Hello, I am looking for an Olds 350 (or maaaaybe a 455) in decent condition (hopefully running) that has the crankshaft for the manual transmission. I am doing an automatic to manual swap in my 72' Cutlass and would prefer to just drop a different motor in my car as opposed to rebuilding the one I have (as I have to rely on the car for transportation right now). Also, looking for said bellhousing. Preferably, the engine would be a pre- 73 with no smog. I would prefer a stock engine for sake of keeping the price down as well. A turn key would be great, but a long block would be fine too.

Also, I'm looking for an original clutch pedal and linkage assembly.

I live in the Southern Oregon area but could pay to have a motor shipped.

PM me if you have anything of interest. Thanks!

Ben, I've got a 1970 350 that came out of a manual transmission car. It's got the pilot bearing in the crank still. It was a good runner but has been sitting for at least 6 years so it would be good to do a compression test on it. I may be able to set it up for you to hear it run. It's pretty deep in the garage so it might take a couple Saturdays to dig it out. I've got 455's and may have one drilled for the pilot bearing or bushing, but I think they would all need rebuilding before going in your car.

I don't think I have an extra set of pedals at this time. If none of the folks here have a set watch ebay closely. I believe any 1968-72 A-body would work. John

Hey thanks John! It's good to hear from you again. I can call you tomorrow if you want, would there be a good time for you? Also, I forgot to mention that I am also looking for a driveline that would fit with the manual trans. I'd pay a good price and definitely would be glad to help you move your stuff around!

Hi Ben
After 7:00 in the evening would be best. Depending on what transmission you go with, the TH350 automatic driveline is the same as was used for the Muncie 4 speed. If you get something different you may have to have a driveline of the right length built. John

I could do a Muncie for now. Later I would probably like to put in a TKO500 but I'm just dying to have a manual, and I've been scrounging and saving, so a used Muncie is fine

I know it's a long way from Indianapolis, but I've got a '73? engine with the hole in the rear of the crank for a manual trans. It has number 8 heads on it. Supposedly it's been rebuilt, & it looks clean under the valve covers, but I can't say for sure what condition it's in. I bought it in a cars/parts deal a few years ago & it's been sitting on an engine stand in my garage ever since then. Here is a link with a couple pix of it.
