Need an Outlet Fitting for a 1953 brake master cylinder
My "outlet fitting" on the brake master cylinder has a cross threaded brake line fitting. It's on a 1953 Super 88 stock brake master cylinder. I need the brass outlet fitting. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about. Thank you.
Wow, very unique. One is not going to find that in modern "help" sections meaning Dorman, Motormite, AGW etc. Maybe a high end resto place such as "white post" can heli coil. But I'd try to find good used first.
Oldsmobile supplier Fusick doesn't have any right now.
These ebay Ford parts look identical but some measuring will tell all. You see those copper washers? The flat washers are you're best shot at this not leaking when completed. If the original flat washers which have grooves are usable, clean them up and re-use them. Those smaller, thin washers are no good on this application. You really have to tighten the bolt to stop any bolt hole leaks, including slow drips which will empty the master cylinder during storage. The sealing flat surface on the master cylinder threaded end cover must be perfectly clean meaning no rust or leak causing gouges.
I have some used and NOS examples but please try one of these easy Ford sales before I let any of mine go.
Make sure you follow the 'bench bleeding' procedure before attempting to bleed out the system to the wheel cylinders. As the master cylinder is lower then the wheel cylinders on this design it will never clear up if not bled properly.
Thank you. Last night I ordered the Ford fitting on Ebay. Hopefully it will work out. I will let you know one way or the other. I appreciate your help.
