Need 70-442 carb #7040257

Need 70-442 Rochester carb #7040257 with a build date pre Oct 1969 or pre Julian build date 2709. Will have rebuilt, so any rebuildable carb with the needed date will work.

Thanks,

Jeff

I picked one up on ebay a few months ago with a December 1969 stamp, rebuilt for $550. They pop up every few days so keep your eye out

Those carbs look cobbled and restamped to me. Maybe not...but the 70 GS 455 carb looks like it, because the throttle plate is not right and the numbers stamped aren't straight. Like the last numbers were added later.

It was late last night, I looked again. It could be ok, throttle hookup is a bit hinky, I'm not real familiar with this carb. I'm REAL familiar with the Buick 70 GS455 carb he's got, and that's really "cobbled" together. Wrong air horn, throttle plate, choke bracket, pump linkage, numbers a bit hinky, etc. That's what I CAN see, internally who knows? The place seems like a "puppy mill" for carbs. You have to be REALLY careful if you are spending big bucks for a # matching carb. You want to know it has the right jets, rods, secondary hanger, air bleeds, etc. so it will run it's best on your engine. Sadly...there will be many people out to take advantage of you.
