Manual Steering gearbox for a 67 442
Looking for a manual steering gearbox and the flex coupling flanges to go with it. I'm converting to manual steering from power. Thanks

I dont have an extra one but I did convert mine. I do believe that all GM "A" bodies for that time period will work. I used one from a 69 GTO on my 67 442. Someone else may know the exact years of interchange? I think the "rag joints" are same.

I have the boxes & the matching joint coupler & pitman arm.$125.00 shipped.
Some of the shafts are splined all the way around, and some have a flat spot machined in them,so you just need to make sure the coupler matches the shaft. The pitman arms are also different for the manual boxes. The splined hole is smaller on the manual arms, compared to the power box/arm.I have also seen two different hole sizes at the ends of the pitman arm,for the center link.Every once in awhile,I see one with a hole that is larger than normal, and the pin on the center link is bigger. One was a 67 Chevelle, and the other was a 66 or 67 Cutlass.I have both sizes.

I put a '67 GTO power box in a '65 chevelle w/o and had to file the tapered hole to the center link to fit.
Loved the quicker ratio - really worked out well!
Might check ratio's available, but I believe the quicker ones require more strength for parking, in a non-power application.
