Lower air dam for 68 toronado

I am looking for the lower plastic air dam that sits just behind the front lower valence on a 68 toronado. 68 or 69 would work. mine was cracked and warped beyond repair. I included a pic of my car showing the area the air dam should be. It sits just below the radiator support.

I don't have any of it but looks like you also need the two side pieces that direct air toward the front brake drums. Usually damaged parts but necessary for proper radiator airflow and brake cooling.

Thanks rocketraider. I have a very nice set of the side "wings". I am just waiting to put them on until I have the air dam as well.

Sorry, no Brian here. My name is Tom. I live in lancaster, PA. I got this car in 2018 from the philly area. It was in the original family since new, and had been parked from 1986 until 2018. I got the car from a body shop hired to restore the car. Unfortunately the original owner died just after the car was painted and the rest of the family did not have interest in finishing the car, so I bought it from the body shop. Other than the repaint, the car was pretty much completely untouched. After two years, I have just about finished restoring the car to the day it rolled off the lot (other than the parts I am still lloking for of course). The car is an 80,000 mile all matching numbers w-34. The original owner ordered the car with almost every option available. It does not have buckets and a console. It does have Power Windows, Vacuum power locks, Power disc brakes, Chrome open spider wheels with caps and trim rings, factory rear air shocks, vacuum power trunk release along with all other comfort and convienience group items. It has cruise control, rear defroster (blower type not the grid in glass), tilt tele wheel with rim blow horn (now working) as I restored the wheel with a new contact strip out of a mustag or a mopar (can't remember which). It has factory 68 headrests, 6 way power strato bench seat, reclining passenger seat back, cable operated remote drivers mirror, UHV ignition system, cornering lights, comfortron automatic air conditioning, AM FM stereo with correct dash mounted 8 track and a power antenna. and of course the best option of all, the W34 performance package. Very few of these options worked when I got the car but now everything down to the comfortron and the 8-track works just as they are supposed to. In the glovebox, I found the original owners manual, warranty booklet with propecto plate still in the back, along with all receipts from 1972 - 1986 when the car was put into storage. Many of these receipts have the milage recorded at the time of service.
Here are some more pics.

In this picture the chrome exhaust tips are incorrect. I have since installed a set of correct 68 w34 dual tips from fusick

Very nice job. Did you do all the trouble shooting yourself? Correcting the earlier cc versions can be a real pain. Did the radiator still have the vacuum solenoid to operate the headlight doors when hammering the throttle? Also, I might have the dam. Drop me a line direct and I will dig around this weekend. dead@mchsi.com Regards Pat

Actually Pat the radiator switch is to open the headlight grilles if coolant temp got up to I think 262 degrees for added cooling.
Pics of the UHV system? 😺 I've never seen one installed on a Toro, as long as I've been fooling with them.

Toronado Owners Association if you're not already in that, and make sure Ralph Braun knows about this 68 W-car. At one time 15 of the original 111 were accounted for.

Here are some pics of the uhv system. I am a member of the TOA #1442. Yes you are correct about the switch. I opens the grills when the car is running hot

Here is a shot of the UHV amplifier after I restored it

In the lower right corner of this shot, you can see where the pink ignition wire connects to the filter capacitor that is mounted inside on the firewall. This wire then goes out through the large firewall grommet to the UHV harness

My car was built in February of 68 the date code on the amplifier was 8A

I took this shortly after I started putting the car back together. You can see the amplifier over behind where the battery would sit. At this point I only had it mounted temporarily because I was still working on restoring the harness

Oddly, the distributor was dated quite a bit earlier than the amp and car. It is 7H so it must have been sitting on the shelf for awhile

When I got the car, the red distributor cap had been replaced, the plug wires had been changed and the harness had been spliced into to power an electric fuel pump. Luckily all of the other parts where sill there. I bought a new correct red UHV cap and a set of 1st quarter 68 dated reproduction plug wires.

Here is a shot from the other side

I have been restoring cars since I was in high school (mostly GM A-bodies). This car was without a doubt the MOST complicated car I have ever done.

Did you find ANYTHING on that car to indicate it might have been one of the Markowitz-Motion Toronados. Even though none are known, the way it's optioned and area it came from make me wonder.

Yep, your right Glen. Forgot about the temp. There was a 68 W in a junk yard north of Terre Haute but the important parts were mostly gone. I bought the engine for the guts and the trans but sold the trans to Brian for his project.

I have not heard of the Markowitz-motion Toronado. What might indicate it as one? I know the full ownership history of the car, but I am not sure what dealership it was sold at. All of the service slips are still in the back of the warranty book with the protecto plate and there are no dealership stamps. The delivery date on the protecto plate is only about two weeks after the build date on the trim tag so I think it may have been a special order by the original owner. One of the earliest receipts I have with the car is from Crisconi Oldsmobile in Philly, PA so that may be where it was sold new. Actually, I had never heard of a W34 toronado before I bought this one. I only went to look at it because I saw it on craigslist and it looked like it had a decent paint job and would be a fun car to flip. The pics on the add did not show under the hood, the dual exhaust was really hard to see in the pic and the add did not say anything about W34. I was on the fence after looking at the car because it was missing a lot of exterior trim (front bumper brackets, front turn signal lenses, passenger side rocker panel molding, passenger side tail light lens, and trunk lid vinyl top molding), it was running rough and missing badly (ended up having two stuck valves and push rods that were bent and broken), none of the jams had been painted (under hood/ fenders, door jams, trunk were all still the original lacquer) and the top had been painted with white truck bed liner. When I went home I did some research on it and was how rare it was, so I decided to buy it, fully restore it, and it and keep it.

The following pics are all that was on the original craigslist add.

Thanks for the offer hairy olds but my tag doesn't look too bad and I would rather not mess with it.

Do any of you guys know of a place that screen prints air cleaner labels? The air cleaner originally had the cleaning instructions printed on the passenger side with the "OM" W-34 code. It was so rough that there was really no way to save it and I had to sand it off. I did take a picture of it first. I also created a pretty good Photoshop file in order to re-create it, but I do not know of any companies that offer screen printing like this. I thought about having it cut out in vinyl but some of the lettering is extremely small.

You've done a really nice job restoring the car. I hope you enjoy driving it and sharing how rare a piece of Oldsmobile history you have!
