Looking for an olds 400e block or engine
Hi All! Searching for a 400 casting #390925E for my 67 442. Recently inherited the car and pulled the motor out and found 2 cracks on the outside of the block down by the fuel pump outside of cylinder 2. Dont know if its just the water jacket due to freezing? No idea if it can be repaired. I haven't taken the heads off yet just the oil pan. I couldnt see inside cylinder 2 as the piston was in the down stroke. Anyway im in the sacramento ca area but willing to pay for shipping if I can find a good block. Thanks for any replies.

I have a complete 67 400 E Block engine out of a 67 442 rag top that sat out side for 20 plus years. It did turnover with little effort, but It will need to be gone through for sure.. The engine was a rebuild by Jasper. It has all the right stuff on it except the carb, not sure what it would have been bored out to when rebuilt. I always wanted a 400 E block & was going to use it for a future project that never happened. Where are you located & let me know if you are interested. The engine is located in Southeastern Indiana, 47025.

I know - you get excited and say "I got one" and quit reading - we've all done it!
Actually, Fastenall's prices are quite reasonable - I'd guess around $200 strapped on a pallet.
He said he'd pay shipping - let him figure it out!

65B01Delta: Ya im interested. Could you send some pics and what kinda price your thinking? Pics of the casting # etc.? Also interested in the size it was bored out to when rebuilt. I have all the original stuff out of the old motor including the 4 bbl rochester qjet and manifolds but if the price is right you can never have too many spare parts, right? Message me at ryan.eaves@hotmail.com
Thanks to Rickman48 for the shipping info.
Thanks jcdynamic88 but I really want to put the 400 back in. Who knows, in 5 years I might wanna put a 425 or 455 in it!

ryneves, I never got around to getting any pictures, one because it's in the corner of my garage with a car parked in front if it, two it's been cold here. That being said I should have some pic's this weekend. As for pulling the heads to check the bore, that may or may not happen, depends on the weather.

Yes sir I did! Went and picked it up on friday. It was quite an adventure. Got a great block at a great price and made a friend to boot. Now im thinking what kinda pistons I want to put in as the forged pistons for the 400 are hard to find and expensive when you do. Not to mention HEAVY! I got some advice on chevy 350 pistons as they are readily available and much cheaper. Do you have a 400 your trying to sell?

I have to go ID it, I haven't seen the block. I got a '66 442 only intake from a guy who later told me he had the rest of the motor. By the time I got back to him, it was just a block and crank, which my brother scooped up for me. I won't get my eyes on it until late July. I'm in Sac too, with a couple '67s and some parts. Best of Luck with yours.
