Looking to borrow a 70 cutlass hood

I am wanting to borrow a 70 cutlass s/442 hood in the northern Utah, southern Idaho, Western Wyoming area. I am not looking for a perfectly painted hood, it just needs to be straight and not tweaked. The reason for this is that I would like to make a mold for a carbon fiber hood. Small dents are ok if you don’t mind me fixing the areas and covering with primer but, no rust holes. I would also prefer a flat hood, that way I can graft in whatever I want for a scoop or bulge. I will be happy to pay a small rental fee and make the drive for pick up and return. There is no risk of damage during the mold process(unless there is an issue with the paint having poor adhesion to the substrate) .

Just a thought. You might be better off buying the whole hood.
Then you can remove the underlying steel structure from the hood and bond it to your new hood which will provide support, latching and mounting capabilities. This is similar to what the factory did with the W-25 hoods.

Thanks for the suggestion.. If it comes down to it, I'll have to buy one, I just don't want to store it or re-sell it. I am planning on molding both sides and bonding the two pieces of carbon together. For my car, it will be a skin fastened with quarter turn dzus fasteners. I am molding both sides, just in case there is actually a market for them and I can supply a fully supported hood...highly unlikely in the Oldsmobile world though.

This might be one of the closest possibilities to you. $100 for this hood. Not sure of exact year of hood, car did have a loose ‘70 fender which has been sold and shipped. U pick up. Exit 9, I-25 Dona Ana NM. Dave S.

I think I could do that, I have made a few widebody fenders for M3's and Evo's in the past that turned out really nice but, nothing as big as the Cutlass hood yet.

Thanks for this but definitely looks to be a 71-72 hood.

70 cutlass hood

FWIW, I have a "new" aftermarket 1970 W-25 style hood. It has the metal bottom layer. I'm in South central Florida. If interested, email me direct: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

Too bad it wasn't a 70 hood, my wife is in the Albuquerque area this week and has my truck.
