Looking for 455 SEA/PDX or Boise
Dear fellow, PNW parts Oldsmoholics... I'm visiting family right now in SEA and Portland, thought I'd throw this on here to see what I can find. I've been browsing CL and coming up empty handed.
I'm looking for a 455. Here's the wish list: 68-70. E, C, or B heads (F H or D would be cool Needs to be in a condition that I can bolt heads and intake on and go. I plan to swap in a cam, new rings/bearings and bottle hone. Complete carb-pan + flexplate and converter would be ideal, but short block is OK.
I will consider a running parts cars if the price is fair.
Whatchya got? Thanks.

Just for giggles...I have a complete 1970 E head 455 from an early build SX (application so I was told) which means 2 barrel, flex plate- yes, carb-yes, T/C- no, But Michigan is a long was from you, therefore how far is too far for you to consider driving? Brett

Anybody know how to pinpoint year? take a guess on value?
Came from big car as I understand the story. I may have the JY receipt somewhere. Had single exhaust judging from the manifolds that were on it.
MX442 post here or PM if interested.

Hog, I just got home. If I was still there, I'd have come over to look at it. I'm trying to find something closer to Boise now, but if push comes to shove, I can send someone there to get it for me. E heads are 1970. If the VIN starts with 30, then it is a 1970 block. Looks like they might be hi-comp pistons, so a Toro or 442?
I'm kicking myself in the ****... I looked at a running 70 Toro GT for $2k. But I didn't want to pay that much just to get the engine.

You might check with the Fastenal third party shipping to see what it would cost to ship a motor on a pallet. Or another one to check, Josh (f-85) has used a company called Engineshipping, you might send him a PM for contact information. Either one of these might make it very cost effective from Salt Lake City or even Puyallup to Boise. John

Nonhog & Ratchet, I'm going to sit on it for a while to see if something comes up local. I have a lot of little things that I can work on in the meantime. I won't be using small valve heads, so if I end up picking one of these engines, I don't need the heads or intake.

Good news! I've been running a wanted ad on CL. I got a hit on a 68 Toro parts car with complete engine that is only 50 miles away. Supposedly engine will crank, has oil pressure, but hasn't been started. Hopefully this is the one. Unfortunately I'm out of town until the 12th. It is going to be a long week waiting to get home and look at it!
There is another 68 Toro that just hit CL again. A flipper beat me to it a month ago and raised the price. Needs a repaint, but way too nice and low miles to part out.
