Looking for a 1964 98 Drive Shaft

I am looking for a 1964 98 drive shaft in good condition. The one I have is slightly bent and it causes vibration. Please let me know if you have one and how much you'd want including shipping to Flower Mound, TX 75022.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards

For a 2 door or 4? Might be different lengths.

deadds, thank you! I appreciate your help. My 98 64 is the 4 door luxury sedan. Please do let me know if you got a good one for a 4 door. I'll be happy to pay the 50$ and the shipping.

Regards

I'm not sure why but books show all 98s the same but not any other model interchange. I suppose to be sure get me the measurements of yours from yolk to yolk and I will make sure its the same. I have 4 parts 98s so at least one isn't cobbled. Parts book does not give a dimension.

My interchange book only goes back to '65; however, it does show all 98s as being the same, with a measurement of 61 3/8", from center to center of the u-joints, not the YOKE. Their may be a difference, because I'm pretty sure that Olds went to the T-400 in '65. I could be wrong on that though.

Hello deaddds and Rocketman269v.

Thanks for your help. I will remove the drive shaft on Saturday, take pictures and then write the exact dimensions on the digital picture and send it to you. You are correct on the fact that 1964 was the last year for the Roto Hydramatic 375 (which by the way sucks) so that is why the yokes are surely different starting on 65.

Hello Deaddds,

I took out the Driveshaft and got some measurements together with the attached picture.

The total length of the shaft is approximately 68" 1/8"

The length of the shaft on the Yoke is ~ 4" 5/8"

I also took another measurement from one pivot point to another pivot point it was ~ 61" 1/8"

I will be home tomorrow and will measure what I got to be sure. The only other issue is how do I know if its balanced as well? Short of seeing a large dent or bent is there an easy way to tell so I know its good?

I agree there is no easy way to know if it is balanced or not. Let me know what you find out in terms of the dimensions. The reason why I want to change mine is because I have some rear end vibration. I am not 100% sure if the driveshaft is the issue, but I can see mine is slightly bent when it rotates.

Any "runout" in the driveshaft that is visible with the naked eye is too much. It will give you a vibration that can be felt in the seat of the car, as well as your seat .

Finally got it out. No visible dents or damage. Email direct at dead@mchsi.com and we can finalize this. Thanks Pat

Why don't you have a drive shaft place fix yours or have one made?

Haven't heard anything so I'm guessing it was a waste of my time pulling the shaft? Goes back in tomorrow and done.
