Looking for valve lifter. GM 5232895

 

So, you're looking for a 0.010" oversize hydraulic, flat tappet.

FWIW, if you are running a stock camshaft, you MAY be able to get away with one for a small block Chevy. Years ago Crane actually listed the same part number across the board for all GM small blocks. The issue that they eventually found and corrected was related to the position of the oil hole in the Chevy lifter; which could become uncovered on the base circle of the camshaft, it you were using a high lift, or reground cam. Olds and Pontiac still use the same lifter. I'm not 100% sure on Buick.

 

Its over 500 lift cam.

 

You need to measure to bore to make sure of the size.
Your best bet, if the bore is .010, is to have a machine shop bush the bore an hone to the std .842 size.
That is what I had to do. The block was marked in white marker, .010.

The lifter bore is marked. This is the way this engine ran with a standard lifter in it with no problems no oil pressure problems or taps.

 

Had the engine been apart before? Have you measured the lifter that came out of that bore?
If the engine had not been apart before the lifter is .010 over. Possible if it had been apart, they may have replaced with an over size lifter.
When you put the std lifter in the bore, how does it fit, tight or loose?

If you have the worn lifter, it can be sent out for a resurface.

 

Eric, he is talking about the bore size of the lifter, not the bottom of the lifter.

Maybe 8 years ago I knew a guy that had a 350 that was stamped .010 on one lifter bore. Mondello (Joes ex business)had a 0.010 oversized lifter.

 

The motor was rebuilt and i have the old lifters they are stranded size lifters.I am freshing it up.The old lifter is loose in the bore thats the way the motor ran with it with no oil pressure problems or taps.If i don't find one may put it together the way is was.

 

That seams mighty strange to me.
Have you measured all the lifters?
If you do put it back, are you using the same cam?
Be sure to use to the lifters in order that they came off the same lobe.
do not mix and match.

I measured all the lifter they are stock ones.I put a new cam and lifter in.
