I owned a bunch of 55-57 Chevies over the years. I found that a generic blower motor can work on the Chevy heater, by using the old Chevy fan, and maybe drilling a couple different holes. But back then, they would let me go in the back of the store and look through the boxes to get a close match.
If you have a drill the following procedure takes less than two hours and can be done at home
remove the motor from the car. Be careful of motor wires as the insulation is brittle. Heat shrink is a good repair for broken or missing insulation
test the feel of turning the blower wheel.
Remove the blower wheel and mounting plate from the motor
From the bottom side of the motor drill a 1/8 inch hole in the "lumps" on the front and rear of the motor. These "lumps" are the brass bushings that are dry of oil after all these many years
Add 8 to 10 drops of non detergent 20 weight engine oil to each "lump"
Use very short 1/8 set screws with a sealer to seal the holes drilled. may need a tap to make threads to start set screws.
Replace mounting plate and blower wheel
Apply power to motor for 30 seconds.
Test effort to turn blower wheel. Should be much less than initial test of turning blower wheel
