Good Place to buy hood for 68 cutlass

The 1968 cutlass I've bought has a huge hood scoop put on by the last owner and I wanted to replace the hood because they cut a hole in it to make it somewhat functional, but I can't seem to find a good replacement. They seem to have them for the 1970 and up. Can anybody help me out? Also, where's the best place for body patch panels like the panels right above the wheels front and back. I've seen quarter panel skins. Also, replacement dash covers. I've looked several places with no avail. Thanks!

Good used are your only options for the hood or the dash pad. The 1969 dash pads interchange, but note that there are two versions, one with vents and one without.

The patch panels are pretty much all stamped by the same one or two Chinese plants, so just shop for best price. I've found Autobody Specialties to be among the least expensive (http://www.autobodyspecialt.com/). There are no small rear quarter patch panels available, just the large partial quarters. They fit poorly and require much labor to finish them properly. Unfortunately, nothing better is available for the 68s.

So no one makes an aftermarket cowl induction or fiberglass hood? My next option might be weld an aftermarket cowl induction scoop on and repaint and get rid of the large rediculous hood scoop.

I hate to be a master of the obvious.

But why not advertise [here and else where with pics] that you want to swap you "Custom Hood" for an origional. Someone somewhere might jump on it. Who knows.

I have an untouched/uncut hood. It has a small flat spot on it that needs to be popped out, but is in otherwise excellent condition. It's already media blasted and ready to go. Let me know if you're interested, as I'll be in Phoenix this weekend and can take it to a place that you'd like it shipped from.

I also have a nice dash pad--black--for a non A/C car.

Check Fusick or The Parts Place for the patch panels.

PM me if you need anything or help with the '68. Just got done restoring mine and had to buy an additional car, so I have extra parts.

And no one really makes an aftermarket hood because '68 was a one-year only hood, and '68s really aren't very popular. It's just not worth it for them to do so.

Your original post made it sound like you already had a modified hood and wanted an original one.

68 Olds hood

I have an extra hood for a 68 Cutlass. It is in very good shape. My camera was stolen so I can't send a picture of it. I live in Milliken, Co and I am asking $100 for it. If you are interested email me at erik_80543@msn.com. Maybe I can borrow a digital camera from a neighbor if you want to see it. This is a plain hood it doesn't have the fake air vents and it has a rocket emblem instead of the big s. I would like to help you out if you are interested. Erik

It would help others and yourself if you state where you are located when trying to purchase a large item that can be $$ to ship. JKaz

Smile '68 hood

I got mine from US Body Source a number of years ago. I was so impressed with the quality that I bacame a dealer for them. I have sold a number of their parts and have and minimal complaints. They make pin on and bolt on flat hoods for our cars. I can also get you a discount. E-mail me for particulars. Thanks, Bob.

I just was curious, the 442 hood withthe dual front scoops, does that bolt on? The hood scoop currently o looks like someone was trying to duplicated a hot wheels drag car. The thing is so big I can hardly see out the window. I don't mind an aggressive hood but this is truly an overcompensation act or something. Haha thank you to all the folks helping me out by the way. You guys are great!

The 1968 hood does not have the hood scoops. Only 1970, 1971, and 1972 actually came with the "scoops" Some guys do put the 1970 Hoods on 1969 cars, but wouldn't work on a 1968. Unless of course you were to do like a few I've seen and put the whole 1969 front clip(everything forward from the doors) on your 1968, and then add the 1970 W-25 hood

There's no scoops, but on a Cutlass S and 442, there are inserts for the "faux" chrome intake grilles. The regular Cutlass just has a completely plain hood, I believe.

I finally got the pictures of my hood for you to see. I only need $100 for it but I live in Colorado so it's probably not worth the cost to ship it. Good luck and let me know if you are still interested.

Thanks,

Erik

I might be interested still but for right now there are a couple things I need toget in terms of getting the car running good. Would you be willing to part with those side mirrors and rear view mirrors as well as maybe the dipstick and tube? Thanks!

Sorry, I need the mirrors and dipstick etc. I'm not parting this car out it is rough but mostly complete and running. I have the original s hood and a better front bumper so the hood and bumper on it currently are the only extra parts I have.
