The lower fender has 2 components: the outer shell and the brace. Did the body shop cut off the whole thing? If they did you're also going to need the brace to make it rigid. Just an FYI though, the lower fender sheet metal (called patch panels) are readily available and shaped for 71/72 Cutlass.

Just looked at one vendor - Parts Place.
BP1076T (1970 - 1972 Cutlass/442) LOWER FENDER PATCH PANEL - LH $69.00
BP1077T (1970 - 1972 Cutlass/442) LOWER FENDER PATCH PANEL - RH $69.00

What is your location? There may be other suppliers closer with better pricing.

What's your location? There's a few guys I know in West and East US that part out cars. They may have the part car donor you're looking for.

BTW, you should also check the threads for anyone who's parting out 70-72 Cutlass models. ALL the lower fenders from ANY of these models is a compatible donor.

You're a bit of a hike from where the guys I know are, but maybe send one of them a PM anyway to find out if they have that brace? Not many guys will cut up a perfectly good fender just for the patch/brace, but if the outer skin is gone they might just be willing to cut out the whole brace for you.

1. Jensenracing77 (Eric) - Brazil, Indiana
2. Oldspackrat (Scott) - Indianapolis, Indiana

If anyone else closer has the needed piece that would be great.

Gotta just love those auto-correct features on cell phones. Thanks Dave, Happy New Year to you and your family (?) too.
