Need a good working fuel gauge for a 69 Cutlass.

I thought when you replaced the sending unit everything worked?

 

Fuel gauge did start working and still does. Lights in the gauge have never worked. Took the old gauge out and most all the pins were broken off. I did jury rig it and got them to work and not blow a fuse but decided to look for another good gauge. Just bought one off ebay completely refurbished with the connector.
