Finally got this car back on the road . Now I can look at the transmission , it would seem to me that the torque converter may be the culprit . I don't know much about that but I'm just going by what my car was doing as far as the noise goes.

Ummmm yeah , there's a whole lot of play on this torque converter .... I can wiggle that splined shaft collar back and forth pretty much . I'm assuming that's not supposed to do this

 

Maybe it is the transmission now that I grab ahold of this shaft and it wiggles back and forth also . It makes clunking sound when I do this .

 

I guess I take my chances , I got nothing to lose . I'm ripping this POS transmission apart

 

I'm probably going to start with bashing the u-joints out of the drive shaft
