I put Flowtech from summit on my 71 Supreme, no major problems, just removed the steering column, moved the brake equalizer, and cussed a lot. Minor issues with the starter being too close so I put one from a mid 80's 307 that was smaller.

I have just dropped in my rebuilt 350 into my 70 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. They slid right in until I started to tighten them down. They contact with motor mounts. They only hit the rubber, so I will be grinding tonight and tommorow. While it is a minor pain,$270 through Summit for ceramic coated headers beats $600, even with grinding duty.

well i've installed a set myself and they sit about 3 inch off the ground in the front of my car. Any major bump or speed hump and the collector hits. I like the headers but they sit really low that they tend to bottom out.

how low do they come from the ground? Is there any way you could take a picture and post it. My collector flange on both sides has bottomed out......... not good!

If your headers are that low,it sounds like you have 455 headers on a 350. The 455 headers WILL fit on a 350,and the WILL hang down lower because the engine is shorter. Most headers will NOT hang much lower than a stock oil pan or the engine crossmember. Just to clarify another thing:You can NOT put 350 headers on a 455,as they will be too short, and you will hit everything.
The Cutlass Supreme is NO different than a Cutlass 'S' or 442.The frames, engine compartments, floors, etc, are all the same. Whoever started that bad fact back in the 80's had no idea what they were doing. As far as fitment goes, just about all of the headers will require you to relocate your brake proportioning valve,or it will rub up against it,and that is not something that I would want to cook.If Hedman's cost $600.00 now, then I would like to know what the Hooker's cost, because the Hooker's still fit the best out of all of the production,mail-order headers.I ordered my Hookers directly from Jet-Hot,coated in & out,and they were $675.00,but that was back in the late-90's.

Some will, but not all. Header manufacturers route their tubes differently, so even if one brand of BBO header fits an SBO, another may not. I know from personal experience that Doug Thorley BBO headers do not fit on an SBO (at least, not in a 1968 chassis). They had interference issues that prevented the flange from properly seating against the head.

I'm sure that not all of them do,but I have done it with Blackjack/Cyclone,Hedman,and Hooker. Not something I suggest. It was one of those situations where we put a good running 350 in a car that had a 455 in,just so we could drive it,and those were the headers that were already in the car.
Regardless,I haven't seen any 455 headers installed in a 455 car,or 350 headers installed in a 350 car,and have the tubes hang down that low.

The lowest point of my whole exhaust system is the collector flange at the end of the header. The rest is a 3" Torque Tech system.

hmmm thanks i guess, i'll have to look into what set of headers i got then. That sucks i'm not sure of the model as I got them from a guy i know who had them on his olds 350 for less then a week, except it wasn't "IN" an oldsmobile. I'm on my wives laptop, i'm going to see if i have a picture of how low mine hang and i'll post it later.
Hey anyone have any ideas as to why my yoke under my tranny hump when i hit a bump it has such tight clearance that it hits. Its driving me nuts, not to mention its unsafe. I'm not sure exactly how to fix it either. only thing i can think is that tranny mounts are wrong and pushing down to much or the angle of the dangle from motor to tranny is off and the drive shaft is sitting higher???? Anyone have any ideas?? Sorry my first build, encountering many unexpected things!!!

I used Hooker Competition ceramic coated (they may have been Super Competition) in my '69 W31 stick and they fit PERFECT!!!!! I followed their installation instructions (for a change) and everything went totally as planned. They aren't close to any brackets, brake valves or anything else. I highly recommend them. I just bought a used set of Flowtech that were installed in a '81 Trans Am with a 455 Olds motor (supposedly ordered for a Cutlass: don't know thw part #s)-----I'm planning to install them in a '72 Cutlass 350, auto, with A/C, and I'm changing from power drum to power disc with one of the new "complete" change-over kits. I'll let you know how I do.

I tried to install a set of 455 headers on my small block and could not get them to fit. Still have them hanging in the garage. I believe they are Super Comp headers, not sure, they were given to me. But the difference in the width of the engine had them hitting all over. I do not know if you will have the same experience nor do I know if going with 350 headers in a 455 will work, just my experience.
