dentless, rotless and warpless
these are the qualities I'm looking for in a used '66 442 hood. If you
have one for sale, please post some pics and let's see if we can help
each other out. You get money and I get metal...

What is/ are the differences between a 442 hood and a supreme' s for in 66/67.....always wondered...
Ted
I just happen to have one of those but I am on the other side of the world and I wouldn't dare ship one----I was just looking at it a few hours ago
Sammy 66 and 67 front lip is different and 67 has louvers. Supreme 66 has trim down the middle and holes to bolt it on 442 is just plain flat, no holes

1967 442 hood
The 66 hoods were the same for 442 and other Cutlass models as far as I know.
Ferndaleflyer by your userid can I assume you are somewhere in the "Woodward Dream Cruise" area? If I can arrange the ride, what would
you want for the hood? Let me know...
Thanks,

No Highjack occurred. We're all here to learn and help (at least that's
how I look at it)... As a point of clarification though I don't believe there
was a "Supreme" in '66... If need be I will accept a F85 or straight cutlass
hood in the condition I described and just deal with the holes for the centerline trim. Now let me know what you have guys....

This is a confusing thread----They did make a CS in 66. Only the 442 and the el cheapo F85 came with the flat hood----all other 66 models had the chrome down the center----some people weld up the holes and then pass the hood off as a 442----SO FAKE!!!!!
And there are other Ferndales other than Michigan-----I live in central North Carolina but the hood is in my Ferndale, Maryland garage.
Anyway carry on guys --- I am 72 years old and know a little about these cars---I think!

In 1966 the Cutlass Supreme was offered as a 4dr hardtop.
66 Cutlass and 66 F85 Deluxe hood had the molding down the center of the hood.
The base 66 F85 and all 66 442 hoods did not have a center molding.
A service replacment hood from the dealership did not have holes punched for the center molding. Body shop was expected to drill holes for the center molding if used.

As is the case with all replacement body sheet metal where the option of being installed on different models required different piercings.
come on now Ferndaleflyer and Run to Rund, you guys know how much
you want for your hoods, just shoot me the price and we'll see if we can
work something out.... It's not like you're gonna make coffee tables out
of them

Since I won't ship it and its 350 miles from here I didn't see the point in pricing it but $400 gets it when you pick it up in Baltimore, Md and no I don't have any pics of it........I am right now 72 years old thus the cavalier attitude. LOL
Gee what to do ????
Ok, since one is 350 miles from it's owner and it's owner doesn't have any
pics nor wants to ship it (kinda tough to sell something like that but that's
what makes the world go round), then I'll change my focus to one that is
closer and see how that works out. Run to Rund I'd like some pics of the two you have and I believe the ones you have are Cutlass with the center
chrome strip down the length of the hood. If that's correct, then I'd like
to negotiate in the good ole American way. My hood is in the body shop and
we are trying to determine if it's salvageable in a cost effective manner.
Should know in about a week or so. Would that give you enough time to
fire off some pics ??? If we can get together on this and it turns out I do
indeed need a hood, I would be doing as you suggested and drive over to
Henderson and pick it up..

You are right it is hard to sell something that way but on the other hand I have sold a ton of stuff that way because I have it-----We both know you weren't coming from Cal to get it. Bad thing is one of these days I will die and my kids will sell it all for scrap or give it away. Just wish I could reach more people that appreciate the situation. Rund is a good fellow and will bend over backwards to help you. Good luck.

thanks for posting those for me. I will keep in touch and let you know if
the body guy throws in the towel on mine. Should be a week or so. I
know from some of your previous posts that you commute from time to
time between Henderson and the east coast. Hopefully when and if I
need it, you'll be on this end of the country.
Ferndaleflyer - all's good - I think I over reacted on your post. No disrespect meant...

I want to thank those who responded to this thread regarding my search for a hood if it turned out I needed one. Fortunately, I found a metal guy who saved the one I had. It was a good hood to start with, but the top skin was "oil canned" due to excessive and incorrect working the hood to remove some small dents. Their intent was good, but their technique lacked.. The metal guy shrank the metal and now the "oil canning" is history and the hood is already for color. Can't be more pleased. It goes to paint this week and hopefully next week it and the front bumper go on. Still have some minor things to address, but overall this project is done -well, as done as they ever are.
Again thanks,
Nufo(Fred)

Where I live a local resto shop who does very high end, Ferrari, vintage Formula 1, etc. has an hourly rate of 80 bucks. Can't see having them do the hole car but helping in one area would be well worth it.
Something for others to think about. Since your back on track.
Pictures?
