CV joint repair kit-1961-63 F85

Anybody have or know where I can get the rebuild kit for the center CV joint? Even if you have a GM part number it would be helpful.

I may need the splined front yoke portion of the rear driveshaft that slips into the front shaft if the ball on that part that forms part of the CV joint is worn beyond use on mine. Breaking it down this week.
Thanks for any help.

Is this the part you might need? I will sell it if you need it. A new rebuild kit hasn't been available for years, but I might be able to find a good used joint assembly for you. By the way, National Seal # 13X22X6 will replace the ball/socket factory seal, it's only 1mm thicker but works perfectly.

If that's the front splined yoke on the rear shaft for the F85 I may need it. The seal is good news too cause even with a "good" joint I'd like to break it apart, put new u-joints in it and a new seal.
I need to have the shop break mine apart to see if the ball is bad along with the rebuildable parts that interface with it.

If you have a good cv joint I may be interested in that as well.
Would these be the Jetfire shafts or the standard driveshafts?

These parts are not from a Jetfire, here is a better pic of the splined yoke

I see, so the other side of that has the cup portion that interfaces with the ball?
So a good cv joint would the the whole rear driveshaft from the spline on back?

I am just learning this all on the fly so please forgive the questions.

There are two or three inserts that ride against the ball and a spring keeps constant pressure on the assembly. When taken out, the spring pressure wants to pop the assembly off center, if it doesn't something is wrong. Here is a pic of the 2 insert style I sold last year.

Do you still have some? This looks like what I may need, possibly along with a new front section with the ball.

Thanks

No I currently don't but I can get the parts (used) you need in a week or so. You shouldn't need the back driveline, the inserts take up all the wear, not the yoke itself.
If the ball on the splined shaft part shows any wear at all, it has to be replaced or it will ruin the spring loaded inserts that mate with the ball.

Really interested. I have a call into my driveline guy and will get back with you. Hope to talk with him today. Do you have an idea of cost for the splined yoke with ball and rebuild parts?

Let's take this to email. layne4m@gmail.com

Got lucky and one of the two last old time junkyards by me had a used driveshaft they let go cheap with what appears to be a good CV joint. The shop now has this one and mine and will see if it works out as I hope it will.
Thanks again for your informational help and work on this issue and I may come back to you either if this doesn't work out or if one of the other cars we have needs some help on this issue.

Still interested. Please contact me by email at layne4m@gmail.com.
What is the size of the "ball" on the yoke?
Is it cast in or removable?

Thanks
