good luck! i couldn't tell you how many time i was told that the 7040250 was easy to find. i was on the hunt for one for many years. i bought 3 cores over the years before i got a good one. i would recommend calling Ron Memmer on this one. he will have a core for around $150 but if you have him send to to sparky's carb service and sparky said it wasn't good Ron will likelt trade it out. i am not sure if he would do that if it was sent to you directly. you would just have to talk to him. spark'y rebuilt mine and put new inlet threads in it for $500. if you want Ron Memmers number let me know. i don't have it in front of me now.

Maybe Nelson will chime in.I sold him a complete 70 350 4bbl engine, with original 250 carb, for his W31 project, but I think he did find the correct 255 carb. The Cutlass was built the 4th week of September/69,so the carb was dated before that.

This local source has many olds carbs here in San antonio. I have the 7040250 you are looking for. I have a -51, & toro -52... many others; not sure on dates, but these cores are 75.00 ea . I have plenty of usable carb cores if anyone else looking for olds rochesters mostly years 66, 67 68 70, 73, 79, ect...
I am currently in need of a 1970 7040258 if anyone has a w30 auto carb collecting dust.

carbs

Sicky sorry about the mix -up on the correct 70 rallye 350 carb. Thought I had two carbs with p/n 0250, turns out I have two 0251 (S) and one 0252 all 1970 carbs.

PM on 251 returned.
