Considering 200R4, Pricing DC area

Considering an overdirve for my '72 driver. Prefer a BOP bellhousing. Don't really want to spend more than $300-$350 for the trans. But will consider spending more if it's worth it. Also want to pick up, will travel several hours in any direction from DC. Will pay for throttle cables/brackets/solenoid if they are right. Thanks - mark

Sorry, but you are dreaming. You can't get a decent TH350 for that kind of money. Any GM overdrive automatic that's properly built to live behind even a stock Olds 350 will be about $1000 more than your price range by the time you include the appropriate internal mods and a rebuilt converter. The best price I've found on even a totally stock 200-4R to go behind my pavement-ripping 140 HP 307 is $600 plus a converter. That trans won't live very long behind a 350.

Thanks joe. I was talking to a guy on Rhode Island ave who runs a trans shop and he said he could find one for that price. BS I'm sure. I'll just have to save up my lunch money and get one from one of the reputable builders. I wanna get a solid OD trans in before I start messing with the engine. Thanks for the advice. Been meaning to get to one of the Capital Rockets meetings but been too busy. Hope to make the cruise in next month. - mark
