Broken T-44 hook lock cable end
Broken T-44 hook lock cable end
I mentioned this in a General thread, but I'm looking for the broken end of a T-44 hood lock cable. The pressed on end and the cable wire have a tendency to snap apart from each other inside the dash piece and I'm trying to figure a way to fix the broken ones out there. I don't need anything but the thick cable end that attaches to the chrome slider bar inside the dash piece. I'd also entertain buying a full one piece cable for a '70 if you have it (unbroken, this time). Thanks for any help!
Bump up - I have found a full replacement '70 cable, but I still would like to find a broken cable end. Maybe you have the dash piece with the chrome slider still attached and the cable attachment still there with no cable? Talk to me...!
Pretty sure drilling and soldering will be the way to go. I need another end loop piece like I'm showing here - I have a cable without one, and I'd like to try and repair it. Stupid me, I'm sure I threw it away with a bunch of other small stuff, and now I need it.
Bump it up - I still would like to find a broken loop end piece, even if still attached to the inside dash piece. I have enough cables - I'd like to repair them with original parts. If I can't, then I'll look for a replacement piece of some kind.
Thanks, John
I'm hoping I come up with a quick fix that others can use. I thought an easy way to do it would be to buy a new cable set and use the factory lever housing, but it just doesn't work well. The replacement cable has a different looped end and it's too loose in the back of the factory housing. It's an opportunity to really fix and straighten these old bent cables - with the loop end off, you can pull out the whole wire, unbend and lube for reassembly. Then it works even better than the replacements that are being sold. But I need to find the perfect fix for reattaching the wire.
