If I were there,,and if you have door panels of the wrong color,,I could show you how easy it is to disassemble the panel and spray die it yourself,,,I did mine and they look brand new. Black is the easiest color change there is,,you can use vinyl/carpet die and do it yourself..I've just uploaded some pics of my interior in my 1970 Vista cruiser into my photo gallery,,I did the entire interior myself,,I should go into the business of dieing peoples interiors..LOL. You are aware that there's a difference in the type of material used on interior upholstery between 1971 and '72, even though the patterns are the same,,

The panels that came in the car are beyond repair as they have corners missing and are basically junk . I have a set of rear black panels that I bought last year from a local fella but I'm not sure if they are 71 or 72 but they are in the S model style . Thanks for the offer to help though ! , If I could get a nice set but of a different colour then re- dieing them black would be the way to go .
The best way to tell the difference between '71 and '72 is that '71 vinyl has tiny perforations, like little "holes", for lack of a better way to describe them,,and the '72 has more of a "leather" look to it. I learned the difference when I restored my '71 Cutlass S. I found a Cutlass in the junk yard with a black interior in mint perfect condition. There wasn't enough of the car there for me to know weather it was a '71 or a '72 with the knowledge of Cutlasses I had at the time, but the pattern of the side panels was the same as my car, so I snagged all four panels and the back seat. I took the back seat and the 1971 bucket seats I had (the black vinyl fabric on the bucket seats was different than the back seat I took from the Cutlass in the junk yard), to Reds Upholstery so he could duplicate the vinyl material of the back seat and copy the pattern of the bucket seats and make new seat covers and reupholster them. As it turned out, I eventually discovered I had actually used a '72 interior in my '71 Cutlass. It was a very lavish rich looking interior, and no one ever noticed the difference. So,,if the rear panels you bought have the same type of material as your trashed door panels,,then they're the same year.....
Hey!..Good News,,I just wasted a bunch of time writing my last post...I took a look at your pictures of your back seat side panels in you photo album and I can assure you with 100% certainty that those are in fact 1972 panels!! They're exactly the same as what I had in my Cutlass..There's absolutely no doubt,,those are 1972....
I have a set that is new, still wrapped I'm not going to use. I'll get pics for you if interested. They have the right trim and carpet but the grain is not exactly right. I'd be looking for 125 each plus the ride.
No problem. I was thinking of having the Naugahyde changed on them anyway. Either way I have to decide how I want to go for power window & PDL install. Redo original panels or use the repos. Except for that grain they are perfect with no holes except for the armrests. Choices .......
