80-85 delta 88 hardtop trim

I am in need of the chrome rear window trim, the roof trim above the doors, the 3" chrome pieces between the door glass and the window glass, and hopefully some of the clips, so I may replicate them.

2 door models.

Four door models are different for sure? There is one in the yard. Aluminum bumpers and solid red lights too.

4 door would be a gamble at best, if I'm thinking correctly. 4 doors DO have chrome rear window trim, but I'm not sure that the roof and pillar profiles would be correct. As far as the halo trim goes, It is one solid piece on the 4 doors, but the rear seat window profiles are very different. I may be able to make the top roof pieces work, but around the windows, is a negative.

Here is an example of the landau 2 door car. This trim will not work either, because the landau top splits up the roof chrome, and gives it ugly leather sideburns instead of the chrome filler panel. The landau cars also do not have any rear window trim. The leather top is wrapped into the window channel.

Mine is the "Sporty" version of the old folks rides. Holiday top option.
HERE'S A PIC of what I need.

ENJOY

If you recall, 8upman, you sent me some chrome sideburn fillers from a 78 buick that I have been using as temporaries. But the gaps are a bit off http://listingsmgr.tradeexpress.com/webpic/803966.jpg

J were you able to find these pieces? Just curious because I have an issue with my landau top. It's a 2 door '83 delta 88. The top itself is in OK condition and all chrome and metal moldings are intact. However the plastic molding where the vinyl meets the quarters is dried out and crumbling off. I'm sure this is common and was wondering if anyone knows where I could find these pieces. Or maybe a suggestion on improvising something so it isn't such and eyesore?

I do have an improvisational solution, but some of the guys on here aren't going to like it.

EYEBROW MOLDINGS. Something like this 69 malibu maybe.

I used eyebrow moldings on my car, and they worked just fine.......that is after making a 2 piece jig out of wood so I could bend them into the shape of the delta's rear sail panels, meticulously cutting them to size, and making my own clips.

I don't know what car the ones that I used came from, got them in a basket o' junk, once upon a time.

make a cardboard profile of the sail panel, and go to the junkyard with it. Then start looking for some eyebrow trim that you can make work.

Every time I look at it I wonder why those two small sections are made of plastic and only glued on when all the other molding is metal that is securely fastened.

I was thinking along the lines of what you're suggesting. Bending metal trim to fit around that corner, but as we know it's not just a simple 90 degree bend. The small piece that wraps around the back needs to be slanted outwards at the bottom. How can this be accomplished without twisting the metal at the corner?

In regards to those plastic side moldings that always fall apart ...

One possible solution even tho the demand for aftermarket vinyl/roadster tops is no where near what it once was as cars have changed so much ...

Check with some of the new car dealers in your area.

See if they'll tell you who they use/used to use for any aftermarket roof stuff.

A Lincoln or Caddy dealer would probably be your best bet ...

Tho' where I am (Florida) they pretty much put those hideous roadster tops on anything with four wheels.

Being that these places are called upon to install a custom roof on damn near anything ...

Any & all moldings on the finished product are custom cut/bent pieces made to fit ... using the proper equipment to do so.

Of course ...

Whether or not you could get one of these places to bend you up some replacement moldings for an old OEM roof they didn't sell you - even tho you'd be willing to pay ... who knows.

Can't hurt to ask tho.

Roof Trim?

I have a 82 Delta with a viynl top. Same problem, dried out and flaking trim pieces on both sides. The same year Cutlasses has the same trim on the side, but is made of metal? Why not the Delta's? Was wondering if the metal trim from the Cutlass would fit the Delta top? Will check it out in the junk yards when i get a chance.

Ok, I just got one but I am not there to look at it to see the difference. I know it a Chivy but it did originally have an Olds diesel but now has a 403 block with BB G heads on it but no intake and a TH400 trans. It also looks to an 8.5"(would that be correct), and has a posi 2.93 geared rear. This would be considered a 3 series carrier would it not? It also has F-41 suspension, it that common on these big cars?
