they door handle for the 73 is the same as the 71-72 year model. They can be very hard to come across. I think I have a few used ones. What happened to the one on your car?

 

'71 to '78 should be all the same. But. yes they are hard to get. I bought the last two available from GM dealer stock back in about 1992 for a '71. I would think junk yard cars would be your best bet at this time.


"What happened to the one on your car?" The casting breaks behind the lever, and the handle breaks off. Usually from excessive drag caused by worn out door hinge pins. The handles can't take the strain, if you have to lift up on the door to get it open.

 

The "what happened" part is that I drove the car up to northern Vermont from Massachusetts and the next morning the door was frozen shut.

I think the yanking broke the handle, but there may have been an existing problem with the linkage.
