73 350 starter and 3 groove wp pulley
I've got what I was told was a 350 motor out of a 73 Cutlass that needs a starter and a 3 groove water pump pulley. Where are the markings on the motor to tell what size and year of motor? I'm new to Oldsmobile.

Here's a link to a thread with photos of the casting numbers and vin number locations. You can use any year starter from a 330, 350, 400, 403, 425, 455 as long as it isn't a Toronado starter, they have a different head to mount to the engine/transmission.

The fastest ID for a stock motor is the large ID #/Letter/both on the corner of the head near the #1 and #8 spark plug.
Oil fill tube should have a number, the first digit of which indicated model year: 8100123 for 1968, 9101202 for 1969, etc.
I have lots of 3g WP pulleys, and a database to help you decide which one will match the one yo have on the crank. For that, you should first ascertain your crank pulley's stamped in ID or barring that, the diameter and overall width the other way [fiore-aft]. This with your water pump's ID on the RH outlet boss [almost certainly a "4" for your engine], and/or the WP's 6-digit casting ID, or if all that is missing because it's an aftermarket unit... just measure the pump from gasket surface to pulley hub mtg surface- it will be 5.1, 5.6, or 5.9" give or take a little.
With WP and lower pulley info you can then know what WP Pulley will fit correctly.
