72 Cutlass Convertible outer wheelhouses

Looking for some outer wheel houses for my 72 convertible. Don't really need the whole things, I'll just be using the sections from the wheel well opening to about 3-4 inches back. Not sure why the convertible ones are listed as different than the others. If anyone has a set they didn't use or something used please let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
Convertible rear outer wheelhouses are not reproduced and the main difference is the top is flat on the convertible models. If you just need to repair the sections around the opening and inward a few inches on your originals, you can buy a HT outer wheelhouse and trim the pieces off of it that you need. Look at my thread (link below) and you will see that is what I did for a 69 442 conv.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. The thread you linked me to is very impressive. I took the drivers side rear quarter off last night with the goal to fix the hack job the previous owner did installing them. Last winter was the floors. Already my shopping list is getting out of hand! Thanks again for your reply, it gives me hope that my car might come through this ok.

Any time. Ask away if you have any more questions when you get into it. The wheelhouse will have a big square indent in the side and that makes for a good spot for aligning a replacement section. Just measure, screw parts together for test fitting, fit the qtr to be sure the wheelhouse has everything in the correct place and then take it apart and start to do the fine tuning for welding. You can overlap the new piece onto the old wheelhouse and screw the halves together. When it's time to weld, run a cutoff wheel through the 2 halves and that will leave a nice gap to butt weld the sections together. The remaining overlap pieces will eithe fall away or you'll need to trim them off so you can weld. Cut with the cutoff wheel maybe 6" at a time so everything stays as it should be. Work your way around and you'll eventually get there.
