Karl, I also have two very nice black backed rear view mirrors with the map light. Nice glass and everything works as it should. May need to change your base as these were from coupes. $65.00 + shipping. Once again, can send pics if you wish. Good luck, Gery.

Here's what I have X 2.
The glass is brand new from a local auto glass shop so there is no hazing or fading. The bulbs, lenses and metal shields are intact in both mirrors and they have been tested and work perfectly. The one pictured has the full harness with plug to harness intact. The other one I have is cut at the plug. I also have the jumper harness from the fuse box for multiple connections (pics included) and lots of spare pieces for the maplight mirrors. Also have the 69-71 maplight mirrors available. Let me know if you are interested, Gery.

I have the correct 70-72 14x7 SSII/SSIII rims, with the bolt-on style center caps.I do not have any trim rings or center caps, but I have all of the bezels for the openings(5 per wheel). I have 10 of these rims,so let me know how many you want.

Hi,
I am in the Chicago area, give me a ball park for shipping, also do you have a picture of the rims?
Thanks,
The day/night feature is still there. It is operated by the lever on the bottom of the mirror. All it really does is "tilt" the housing downward slightly to minimize glare from headlights behind you. I have redone a few of these. I did one for my father-in-law's 72 Monte Carlo and if there were any problems I would've heard about it. If you've ever had the switch out of one you know how brittle they can be. Most of the problems with the light not working is because of the contacts being dirty. The hardest one to clean is the push in contact at the top of the mirror. It's a little tough to clean without removing the connector from the mirror body. I have found a 1/4" socket on a screwdriver handle (nut driver) works good to depress the little tabs on the inside. Just be gentle. Once everything is cleaned just wipe some dielectric grease on everything and you're good to go. To test, hook power to wire and ground to mounting bracket...slide the switch to on position. The switch grounds to the mirror body and your light should go on.
If you're replacing the glass the best way I have found to remove the old glass is with a letter opener. If the rubber gasket is warm it makes it much easier with removal and installing new piece. If you remove the old glass yourself just be carefull. Sometimes the gasket sticks to the back of the glass from the heat of the light. Work the gasket from one of the ends until you have enough loose to get the glass out. Remember to make sure it is not stuck at the area near the light. Once again, warming the gasket for re-install of new glass makes things much easier. The original glass is tapered from top to bottom. You could have it re-silvered or just have a new piece cut from a local auto glass shop. It will not be tapered, but will fit back in the gasket and stay "put". Also, make sure your bulb has the metal heat shield facing the glass. Hope this helps, Gery.
The "mini harnesses" ,as I recall, are from as follows:
Pic 1 - Came out of a '69 Chevelle 4 door with power everything. I think it was a factory dual lead for accessories.
Pic 2 - Came out of a either a "69 Toronado or a "69 Buick LeSabre. Basically the same thing.
That's trusting my memory
......Sorry' what were we talking about

I saw in another post that your looking for a rear bumper with cutouts. I have one I had replated about 25 years ago, so it's not show quality anymore and would need replated for that. It has factory holes in it for the bumper guards but I didn't have the guards when I had it plated. If your interested in seeing pictures send me your email address in a PM and I'll take some for you.

Hi John,
I sent mine to be rechromed but I don't know how it will turn out so I am starting to look for another just in case. Funny thing mine has bumper guards also. Could you please PM me some pictures and a price you would want for it. Was it ever hit or damaged?
Thanks,
Karl
