71 Toronado

I own a 71 Toronado and am looking for a replacement milage counter.Mine stops at 1.3 miles, then I reset it and it counts straight to 1.3 again and stops..I have taken the speedometer out and the mileage counter is just a small rectangular metal box with a couple screws holding in in place. Can they be fixed? or do I need a replacement. Thanks Roy

They can be rebuilt. I once tried to do it myself, and messed it up even more. But there are places that specialize in rebuilding these things.
