71 Cutlass Convertible Trunk Lid Needed

I just bought a 71 cutlass convertible and I need a trunk lid as the current trunk lid is rusted out beyond repair. I live in south texas hoping I can find one close by as I believe shipping will be expensive but will not rule that out.

Contact me at sleeton@stx.rr.com

Thank you

The 70-72 trunk lids will fit but the trim may be different. A 4-door trunk lid will also fit. There was a thread on here a few days ago about this subject. You can probably find it if you use the search function.

Shipping a deck lids is not bad. But your already in the best place to find rust free parts, the desert Southwest. As mentioned the 4 door was the same. The Supreme is similar but the two corners up near the windshield have a different shape to be aware of that. John

Here's a picture. The sharp corner up by the back windshield is from the 1970-72 Cutlass Supreme. The rounded corner is from the 1970-72 4 door and convertible. First blush they look the same so make sure you check this. John

At this time what I have is one that has a couple small dents in it or one that had the lock punched. If you were doing the body work yourself one of these might work for you. But if you have to pay someone to do it I would not recommend either of these. If you strike out finding one at a price you like I can send you pictures of what I have for you to consider. John

He is in Corpus Christi, Texas. That's on the Gulf of Mexico and is quite a ways from the desert southwest.

I keep forgetting, Texas is a big state. And I expect the salt air from the Gulf Coast rots cars as bad as on the Pacific coast in Oregon.

No doubt about that! There's a sign on I-10 right at the Texas/Louisiana border (east side of the state) that says El Paso 857 miles (the opposite side of the state). That's a long drive.

They reproduce deck lids $400 - $500, maybe worth looking into that option

I worked in a body shop in san antonio
The cars from the coast would have rust worse than minnesota cars...
which is hard to fathom

I do have an extra convert / 4 door trunk lid

I purchased it in witchyta kansas it came off an olds car from oklahoma
long drive from scenic minnesota I have about $400 into it

I would like to sell it but do not want to ship I would sell it today for $300 cash picked up here / near minneapolis minn

That is a great deal but unfortunately I am not in MN and don't have a way to get up there that is cost effective.

Still need that trunk lid though for a 71 convertible cutlass.

Can anyone help out, in corpus christi tx
